Numbness & Tingling
Numbness and tingling can occur to any part of the body. It feels more like a prickling sensation. It can happen on your hands, feet, face, back and many other places. It all depends on which nerves are being affected in your body. Most of the time there is inflammation surrounding the nerve tissue causing an irritation of the nerve which in turn creates the experience of numbness and tingling.
As chiropractors; it is very common to find inflammation around nerve tissue due to repetitive stress, severe postural imbalances such as back hump, scoliosis and forward head carriage. Common conditions seen in our office where patients experience numbness and tingling are Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Nerve root compression and spinal disc herniation. Typically having a structural imbalance is the root cause of experiencing tingling that is ruling out any underlying medical condition such as diabetes.
